“DARMIS” Study
DARMIS — Dynamics of antimicrobial resistance of uropathogens causing community-acquired urinary tract infections in different subsets of patients.
The aim of the study is to assess the etiological structure and susceptibility of uropathogens causing community-acquired urinary tract infections (UTI) in individual subsets of patients (children and adolescents, adults, pregnant women) to clinically used antimicrobials.
This prospective multicenter microbiological study includes strains isolated from the urine of children and adults of both sexes of all age groups with acute (and exacerbation of recurrent) community-acquired UTI.
The first phase of the “DARMIS” Study was conducted in 2010-2011.
The current phase of the study is carried out in 2018 and is denoted as “DARMIS-2018”.
The relevance of this project is to enable continuous monitoring of antimicrobial susceptibility of uropathogens in Russian Federation due to the possible risk of underestimating level of antibiotic resistance, or, on the contrary, the risk of exaggerating it. A true understanding of the current state of antimicrobial resistance increases the effectiveness of empirical therapy and limits the irrational use of broad-spectrum antibiotics.
