I work as an interpreter in one of the US hospitals. Recently I faced a serious problem. One of the first questions the triage nurse asks if the patient iis allergic to any medicine. Some of the patients are allergic to antibiotics. But unfortunately they do not know any antibiotic groups other than penicillin and they give a list of antibiotics brand names. They are not aware of the active ingredients this or that antibiotic contains.
In the territory of the former Soviet Union we did not worry about labeling like they are worried here in the States. Besides that the brand names are different in the States and Ruissia. Is there any list of comparison I can refer to in my work? Has anyone ever faced this problem before?
I would appretiate any help.
Thank you in advance,
Dear Sir/Madam,
As far as I know there is no comparion chart with generic names and trade names both in USA and Russia. One of the best ways to find out generic name of any drug is to check it at Drugs.com or Drugs@FDA.
